'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith continues battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he recalls the thrilling closing stages of his team's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles amid the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a powerful strike from 25 yards, and the defender promptly slammed home the deflection before sprinting toward the crowd to mark the goal, with fans congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result capped an extraordinary comeback given Swansea had trailed 2-0 midway through the second half. Amid the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result secured a fourth-round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. Galbraith had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about way out going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that far out," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right flank after Orient changed formation. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way the underdogs approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the basics and simple things, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they know how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're all right and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even noticing. You have to be alert throughout of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Orient and has rapidly achieved similar status in south Wales. At the London club he reunited with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a loan at lower division the Manchester club, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was probably a slightly green going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without serious challenge. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that maturation for his team and nation, shining for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including both legs games against the German national team. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

It has been a remarkable path for the youngster from the local area in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his father, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

His single match for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a Europa League trip to the Kazakh capital, where they competed on an plastic turf and the venue ceiling was sealed owing to conditions of -15C. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he recalls, chuckling. "The preceding week, myself and quite a few of the young lads trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Leaving United

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "It was relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I understood I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it became apparent where I thought I needed to go my own route, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at 5pm: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, the drivers, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to interact with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and behind the wheel. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's always up to all sorts."

Supporter Connections

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on the Tube after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
